The Misfits

When Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift acted in “THE MISFITS” movie in 1961, they stayed at the Mapes Hotel and Casino in Reno, Nevada. They presented the owner, Charlie Mapes, a gift of these table lamps as a thank you for his hospitality.

The Mapes Hotel was built in 1947 in a distinctive Art Deco style and it was closed in 1982.

After the Mapes Hotel was closed and, before it was demolished, an auction was held. These lamps were purchased and refurbished. They are 46” high and come with lampshades made of Eggshell Shantung fabric with gold trim at the top and bottom. They also come with a picture of the demolition of the Mapes Hotel and Casino in January, 2000. A detailed picture of the implosion of the hotel and casino is also available.

The price is $4900 for the pair, plus shipping and handling, and Nevada tax, if applicable.
