Antique Maria Theresa Chandelier
This crystal chandelier is 29" high and 26" in diameter. It has two tiers of lights, for a total of 12 lights.
There is a very unusual story behind this beautiful restored antique chandelier. The gentleman it belonged to said it was removed from a NCO Club in Berlin, Germany, at the conclusion of World War II. He, himself, removed this chandelier (one of six) from the Grand Ballroom of this club. The club was so demolished by our allies that it was not safe, so they proceeded to tear it down. Before the demolition, he removed the chandelier. It had been hanging in his home in various locations in California until 20 years ago when he moved to Reno, Nevada. Then it stayed in storage until he brought it in to us for restoration. The NCO Club, to our knowledge, belonged to Nazi regime or the SS.
The chandelier has been totally dismantled, cleaned and reconstructed. There was one piece that was broken, a bobesche on the very top, but we found an exact match.
The uniqueness of this chandelier and its history demands a moderate price of $7495, plus professional crating and shipping, and Nevada tax, if applicable. |
